How It Works at HomeSTEM Academy

At HomeSTEM Academy, we combine the flexibility of homeschooling with the structure of a high-quality virtual STEM program. Here’s how our K–8 hybrid model works to support student success.

Weekly Schedule

Monday–Thursday: Core Academics

  • Live Virtual Instruction in Math, Science, Language Arts, and Social Studies
  • Daily Schedule:
  • K–2: 2–3 hours per day
  • Grades 3–5: 3–4 hours per day
  • Grades 6–8: 4–5 hours per day
  • Includes movement breaks, interactive lessons, and offline assignments



Friday: STEM Enrichment

  • Hands-on STEM projects, coding games, and science kits
  • Minimal screen time
  • Activities are self-paced and designed for family engagement
Blended Learning Approach

We offer a hybrid curriculum that blends offline and online learning for a well-rounded experience.

Grades

Instruction combines live, interactive lessons with independent assignments and collaborative projects.

Grades 6–8 Focus
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and academic writing

  • Data analysis and lab-based scientific inquiry

  • Integration of reading across content areas

  • Instruction time: 4–5 hours per day, with built-in breaks

Students build independence while receiving structured guidance from certified instructors.

STEM Fridays (K–8)

Advanced Learning & High School Credit Opportunities
Students in Grades 6–8 and homeschool students have the opportunity to:

  • Take advanced courses in Math and Science

  • Earn high school credit in eligible subjects such as:

  • Algebra I

  • Geometry
  • Integrated or Physical Science

  • Biology

These credit-bearing courses follow state standards and include:

  • Live instruction from certified subject-area teachers

  • Lab work (virtual or hands-on kits)

  • Assignments, quizzes, and assessments that align with high school expectations
  • Progress tracking and transcript support
